The origins of Audi are quite complicated and date back to the beginning of the 20th century. The initial companies (Horch and the Audiwerke) were founded by engineer August Horch; and two other manufacturers DKW and Wanderer. These companies founded Auto Union in 1932.<\/p>\n
The modern era of Audi began in the 1960s when Auto Union was acquired by Volkswagen from Daimler-Benz. After the relaunch, Audi came up with the introduction of the Audi F103 series in 1965. Later, Volkswagen merged Auto Union with NSU Motorenwerke and the current form of the company was created in 1969.<\/p>\n
The company name is based on the Latin translation of the surname of the founder, August Horch. \"Horch\", which means \"listen\" in German, becomes \"audi\" in Latin. The four rings of the Audi logo each represent one of the four car companies that founded Audi together. Audi's slogan is \"Vorsprung durch Technik. However, Audi USA used the slogan \"Truth in Engineering\" from 2007 to 2016 and has not used the slogan since 2016. Audi, along with BMW and Mercedes-Benz, is one of the best-selling luxury car brands worldwide.
