When to replace the Toyota Celica timing belt

Petrol variants manufactured between 1993 and 1999

  • Toyota Celica 1.8 i 85 kW = No unambiguous interval. Recommendation is 90 000 kilometres or after a maximum of 5 years. 
  • Toyota Celica 2.0 i 125 kW = No unambiguous interval. Recommendation is 90 000 kilometres or after a maximum of 5 years. 
  • Toyota Celica 2.0 i 129 kW = No unambiguous interval. Recommendation is 90 000 kilometres or after a maximum of 5 years. 
  • Toyota Celica 2.0 i 178 kW = No unambiguous interval. Recommendation is 90 000 kilometres or after a maximum of 5 years. 

Diesel variants produced from 1999 onwards and 2005

  • Toyota Celica 1.8 i 105 kW = Timing chain. Check and replace if necessary after 10 years.  
  • Toyota Celica 1.8 i 141 kW = Timing chain. Check and replace if necessary after 10 years.
