When to replace the Peugeot 308 timing belt

The Peugeot 307 is the successor to the Peugeot 306 and was produced between 2000 and 2009. This model came with both petrol and diesel engines. Petrol variants produced between 2007 and 2013

  • Peugeot 308 1.4 VTi = Timing chain, check and replace if necessary after 10 years. 
  • Peugeot 308 1.6 VTi = Timing chain, check and replace if necessary after 10 years. 
  • Peugeot 308 1.6 16v 80 kW = 120 000 Kilometres or after a maximum of 10 years.
  • Peugeot 308 1.6 BioFlex 80 kW = 120 000 Kilometres or after a maximum of 10 years.
  • Peugeot 308 1.6 GTi = Timing chain, check and replace if necessary after 10 years. 
  • Peugeot 308 2.0 16v 103 kW = 120 000 Kilometres or after a maximum of 10 years.

Petrol variants produced from 2013 onwards -

  • Peugeot 308 1.2 VTi 60 kW = 175 000 Kilometres or after a maximum of 10 years.  
  • Peugeot 308 1.2 THP 96 kW = 175 000 Kilometres or after a maximum of 10 years.  
  • Peugeot 308 1.6 THP 92 and 115 kW = Timing chain, check and replace if necessary after 10 years. 

Diesel Variants produced between 2007 and 2013

  • Peugeot 308 1.6 HDi all variants = 240 000 Kilometres or after a maximum of 10 years.
  • Peugeot 308 2.0 HDi all variants = 240 000 Kilometres or after a maximum of 10 years.

Diesel Variants produced from 2013 onwards -

  • Peugeot 308 1.6 HDi all variants = 175 000 Kilometres or after a maximum of 10 years.
  • Peugeot 308 2.0 HDi all variants = 180 000 Kilometres or after a maximum of 10 years.
