When to replace the VW Beetle timing belt

The VW (Volkswagen) Beetle is the successor to the New Beetle and has been produced since 2011. This model comes with both petrol and diesel engines. Petrol variants produced from 2011 onwards -

  • VW Beetle 1.2 TSI 77 kW = Timing chain, check and replace if necessary after 10 years.
  • VW Beetle 1.4 TSI 118 kW = Timing chain, check and replace if necessary after 10 years.
  • VW Beetle 2.0 TSI all variants = Timing chain, check and replace if necessary after 10 years.
  • VW Beetle 2.5 125 kW = Timing chain, check and replace if necessary after 10 years.

Diesel Variants produced from 2011 onwards -

  • VW Beetle 1.6 TDI 77 kW = 210 000 Kilometres. No maximum number of years. Maximum 10 years is recommended.
  • VW Beetle 2.0 TDI all variants = 210 000 Kilometres. No maximum number of years. Maximum 10 years is recommended.
