In 1989, Toyota decided to do something about its conservative image and founded the luxury brand Lexus. At the Geneva Motor Show in 1990, the first model of the new brand for the European market was on display - the LS 400. Lexus is sold in more than 70 countries around the world and is the best-selling premium car in Japan. It consistently ranks among the top 10 Japanese global brands in terms of market value. Nagoya is where its headquarters are located. The models of Lexus are the sedans such as the IS and HS version. The ES and the GS are the mid-size models. Large models are called LS models. The IS C versions are convertibles. NX and RX are small crossovers, GX is a medium SUV, while XL is a huge SUV (LX). The CT, HS sedan, GS, LS and RX are among the hybrid models. The GS sedan, RC coupé and LFA are the current versions of the F series.

Since then, almost every vehicle Lexus makes is equipped with a timing chain instead of a timing belt.
